Why We Are Different

The Food

Our kitchen manager, Gumaro, has been with us for over 22 years. He was just a teenager when Bob Young, the owner, hired and began training him. Since then, he has been striving to serve consistently great food to our customers.

Bob has stated many times over the years, "if we can't find a product we like, we will just create our own". This concept has fueled our menu, and is why we make almost everything from scratch!

FIRE SIGN ANNEX

In addition to the restaurant we also have our Annex coffeeshop, which is open to the public on our busy days. If we get onto a wait our customers can get a cup of coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, latte etc. while they wait for a table in our restaurant. We have tons of games to entertain children (and adults) to quickly pass the time. The Youngs realized their customers needed a nice place to wait over 20 years ago, which is how long they have had the Annex.

Yelp

“Fire Sign Cafe has been around for 40 years serving up hands down, the best breakfast in Tahoe! Breakfast, Brunch, and Lunch or all sorts can be found here. There are gluten free, non-dairy, vegetarian options, too. Man-mosas are a thing here too. Everyone leaves happy and full.”

Trip Advisor

“Always on the lookout for a good eggs benedict, when researching restaurants in the area, this one ended up on the 'must visit' list. We stopped here for a late brunch on our drive around Lake Tahoe and it did not disappoint! The eggs benedict and pancakes were delicious, the restaurant was cozy and comfortable, and the service was very fast and friendly. We will definitely return when we are back in the area.”

“My wife and I LOVE It here. It’s a favorite for breakfast every time we’re up in Tahoe City. We especially enjoy the fact that pups are welcome on the back deck. Inside seating is friendly and because of weekend crowds, we’ve volunteered to share a table. Great food. Great service.”
